The polar dog breeds are bred to run longer distances. This has been exploited even in the most primitive societies, where the dogs have often pulled sleds. Today it has become a sport, and since there is (unfortunately) rarely a thick layer of snow in Denmark, the races organized by the club usually take place on a wagon.
